PRACTICAL GUIDE
Make a video easier to play and send
Create a compatible MP4 and balance resolution with compression.
Choose a compatible format
MOV, WebM, and MKV tools export MP4 using H.264 video and AAC audio. A suitable stream may be remuxed to avoid unnecessary re-encoding. The primary video and audio are kept; additional tracks and subtitles may be dropped.
Lower resolution thoughtfully
Video compression defaults to at most 720p and a CRF of 28. Larger CRF values usually reduce size with more visible quality loss. There is no guaranteed target file size.
Check the important moments
Play the output, inspect fast motion and small text, and confirm the sound. Keep the original if you might edit or export again. Compression keeps the original when the converted output is larger.
